STONE DEMONS -The Craft of the Witches
2011
Anno Dominus
On
that "Vampyr" session, old and new stuff was recorded to finally be included in “The
Craft of the Witches” demo. About 10 songs were worked, but only 5 finished so,
the list changed from the original idea. The tentative track was: “Gothic
Cross”(Intro), “Haxän (The Craft of the Witches)”, “Vampyr” (different
version), “Mournful Woman”, “When the Witches Burn” and “Call of the Woman”,
which is a cover of the Mexican 70’s heavy Rock band Enigma. That record was at
last unleashed as the plague in April 2011, getting very good response from around the world.
Due
to the few time of all the members of STONE DEMONS, live appearances are not
planned in a near future. Thus, the band prefered to concentrate in recording demos, and later an album if darkness does not forbid, which will contain 9-11 tracks, some very old ones like “When the Witches Burn”, “Häxan”, “Stone
Demons” and “Vampyr”, or new ones like
“Vargtimmen” or "Poison For the Fairies”.
Never
actually losing contact with Heavy Metal music, Van Hellsing and Martino know
how the scene has changed in the last 15 years or so. But even when their ideas
and concept are still the same, based upon the gothic cinema and horror/magic literature,
etc, they don’t want to be confused with a band of “Gothic Metal”. Nor a
satanic band they are, so no much bounds can be found to the nowadays Black
Metal scene.
STONEDEMONS
take their inspiration from diverse sources such as Mexican and European traditions
and legends, theology matters, classic horror literature, gothic horror cinema,
obscure and occult rock bands from the 60’s 70’s like: Coven, Black Widow,
Black Sabbath, Iron Claw, Wicked Lady, Plus, Paternoster, Jacula / Antonius Rex /
Zora, Icecross, Necromandus, Dies Irae, Goblin, as well as the satanic, obscure
and sinister Heavy Metal bands from the 80s Venom, Demon, Angel Witch, Cloven
Hoof, Death SS, Paul Chain Violet Theater, Witchfynde, Witchfinder General,
Black Hole, Mercyful Fate/King Diamond, Exorcist, Bathory, Hellhammer/Celtic
Frost, Stormwitch, Deliverance, Ripper.

STONE DEMONS - The return...... Vampyr
2007
Anno Dominus
Years
came and went, but the spirits of STONE DEMONS, Martino and Van Hellsing stayed
in touch, always longing to complete what was started. Some encounters to watch
classic terror movies and listen to some horrid records put them in the mood to
agree on resurrecting STONE DEMONS. Removing the dust from their eyes, the Demons
of Stone have spread their wings again and into their dead eyes burt a bloodred
flame.
Looking
through various old rehearsal tapes and notes, Martino and Van Hellsing started
to work on the basis of those low quality sounding unfinished tracks. The task
seemed to be very difficult since they had to wait some time until both
schedules could match and new corpses would be found to join, as none of the
former members were located, or in the case of Diana refused to join, Van
Hellsing started to contact old friends who would be interested in the project
and would match the horror concept which is the core of STONE DEMONS.
The
first spirit to be summoned was Erick de Macario, once invited to be part of
the band, but due to lack of time, had to decline. Now he sits behind the drum
kit. In the deepest places of the morgue, they found the mortal remains of J.J.
Constanzo, a long time friend, whose impressive dramatic vocal style was the
last spectre to appear and join.

With
the line-up complete, new rehearsals are done to create new stuff and update the
one already written. As a test, in autumn/winter 2009, the DEMONS recorded the
very first song they wrote: “Vampyr”. Trying to experiment a bit, they recorded
about 3-4 versions of the song. As everything went well, the Demons realized
that they would go forward and continue recording.
Only
a bunch of copis on cdr were given away to closer people. One of the copies arrived to
Blower Recs, long time friends of Martino and Van Hellsing. This lead to the
inclusion of the song in the Blower’s records compilation “Forged in Metal” in
March 2010. The response towards the band was overexpected, above all in Italy,
Greece and Germany, something which convinced STONE DEMONS to finally complete
the never released demos “Vampyr” and “The Craft of the Witches”. Intense
composing sessions took place after digging through old tapes, to decide which
stuff would be usable for future records.
On the early days of winter 2010, they gathered again to start a recording session. For instance they decided to record “Mournful Woman” and thus release the planned “Vampyr” tape, but missing the self titled song “Stone Demons”, which would be included on a later release. On December 2010 the band printed 50 copies in tape and passed them unto close friends. But as people noticed about the cassettes, asked for the stuff, so the band decided to print some on cd format on February of 2011.

STONE DEMONS - The nightmare continues...
1991
Anno Dominus
STONE DEMONS had finished a very slow process
to complete three songs which included “Vampyr”, “Mournful Woman” and “Stone
Demons”. A debut demo tape named “Vampyr” was scheduled to be recorded in mid
July 1991, but in that lapsus of time void, Malthus disappeared and was never
found again, dead or alive. His departure caused a deep disaster in the band,
since no a new walking dead could be found to complete the task. Also, Van
Hellsing found himself prey of health breakdown which affected the whole
process.
The
band was put into rest for an agonic time, while waiting for a new cadaver
could came into the morgue to fit the vocals, while Van Hellsing recovered slowly,
but not completely. It was until 1993 that the graves opened again and from the
dust and coldness stepped out of the mortuary pit A. Aestera, a grim entity who
shared the same macabre visions as the other three. By that time, the band had
worked in new sinister sounds to be added to the first three songs, which
included “Haxän”, “Bell Tower”. “When the Witches Burn”, “A Moonshine Filled
Night” and “Presentia Diaboli”, which would be part of a new demo named “The
Craft of the Witches”.
But
calamity struck the band again. Diana is found by their parents in shock state. A
long path had Diana walk to recover from that episode she refuse to speak
about. To this day she is under clinical observation.
In that state of misery, STONE DEMONS found a
grey horizon for the future of the band so they decided to stop for a while.
Van Hellsing goes to university, joint short-living bands, and travels
through Europe, while Martino concentrates himself to study at the National
Conservatory and college. Aestera simply disappeared in the darkness where he
came from. So the eyes of the STONE DEMONS were closed in winter 1994.
Thus
the crypt was sealed…

STONE DEMONS - An old story of horror forgotten in the mist of time.
1990
Anno Dominus
STONE
DEMONS came into this world of misery in through a slow process of life, death and
resurrection which started in autumn 1990, when the restless souls of Martino
(guitars, 17 y.o.) and Van Hellsing (drums, then 16 y.o.) met each other at an
old and macabre occult library (now closed) in downtown Mexico City. Their love
for the sinister side of music, cinema and literature bounded them in a macabre
alliance since then. Both shades involved in shades started to work in Heavy
Metal band to give shape and life to
their twisted ideas and conceptions, all in all sunk into the macabre,
superstition and tradition of the horrible and frightening. With basic and
cheap equipment, but lots of zest, both lovers of the macabre started to work
with some riffs and lyrics while searching for suitable members to join the
legions of dead.
Almost
a year passed until, suddenly, from the mist a third wandering ghost came in
the fuzzy shape of G. Malthus, a fresh corpse still in his drape, who would
break the silence howling like a wolf in night of fullmoon. Very few Martino
and Van Hellsing knew about Malthus fascination for drugs, something which would
lead him to the pits of perdition in short time after.
A
fourth wandering spirit appeared from the darkest darkness. On her tombstone
was written her name: Diana Salazar, whose horrible abilities were shown on
bass guitar and keyboards. She went even more into darkness, following the magia inversa direction since she was
deeply interested in black magic & witchcraft. More a classic trained
musician than a metalhead, she added new dimensions to the STONE DEMONS sound.
